WGD worked closely with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry's team for several years, on a new facility for their CNFER Branch, The Centre for Northern Forest Ecosystem Research. The first phase of this project was completed in Spring of 2016 and involved a new office spaces, at Wet Lab, Dry Lab, Boardroom, Lunchroom, renovated washroom facilities, high density storage solutions, and a Workshop. The labs demanded a great deal of attention to detail in order to retrofit the existing space to suit the branch's complex mechanical and electrical laboratory needs.
The second phase of the project included a new Necropsy Lab outfitted with: a new automatic overhead door, a hoist, walk-in freezers, necropsy table, laboratory caseworks, and fully waterproof interior finishes to allow for spray-down capabilities. The final phase of the laboratory expansion included a soil research laboratory with long-term sample storage freezers, and an EDC lab. The series of projects undertaken over a 4 year time span involved complex phasing and the use of a series of swing-spaces to achieve.
