Kris Vassilev has over 30 years of experience in the design, documentation, management and execution of various scale community, recreation, academic, culture and residential projects in Canada and internationally. Many of the projects he worked on have received prestigious design awards, including an OAA Design Excellence Award, and have earned LEED certification.

Kris has been collaborating with WGD on a consultancy basis providing design concepts and technical detailing. Among his contributions is his exceptional design for Albion Arena in Toronto, which transformed this old facility into a welcoming and accessible community hub, and "brought to new life a hidden gem" (as described by the owner).

Kris obtained an extensive international education that comprises a Bachelor and Master of Architecture from the University of Architecture & Building Engineering in Sofia, Bulgaria, and a PhD in Architecture from the Moscow Architectural Institute. In addition to design work, Kris Vassilev has published a number of articles and studies on architectural language, including "Multicultural Context and Architectural Expression" in the 2014 OAA Profiles. Kris also volunteers his time as an OAA Internship Mentor.
